A red gate at the top of rue de Vaugirard, a few tags, around ten steps… Welcome to the self-managed high school of Paris (LAP), in the 15th arrondissement of Paris.
Born in 1982, what was initially a simple experiment continued and ended up being cited as an example of alternative education.
But today, a case of sexist and sexual violence is shaking up the LAP, to the point that the establishment could lose its founding principles, which are based on the self-management of the establishment: free attendance of classes by students and recruitment teachers by co-optation.

At the origin of these turmoil, an alert from the teaching staff.
“On January 30, 2023, seven LAP teachers sent a report of an offense in the school environment to the Paris rectorate to denounce, based on student testimonies, sexist remarks, sometimes with sexual connotations, and inappropriate gestures of a teacher as part of various educational activities,” indicates the Paris rectorate.
The report mentions situations encountered by two final year students and four first year students.
