(see related) The president of the Union of ItalianJewish Communities (UCEI), Noemi Di Segni, said Tuesday that the annual Marathon for Memory in remembrance of the victims of the Holocaust has failed through "for security reasons", denouncing the fact that neo-Fascists can instead "demonstratefreely".
"For security reasons we have not been able to organize the marathon for memory," said Di Segni, presenting the program of events sponsored by the Prime Minister's Office for International Holocaust Remembrance Day on Saturday.
"Those who raise their arms in the Fascist salute and the extreme-right squadristi of the social centers are free to demonstrate, as if protected by a constitutional freedom," she continued.
"It is aberrant that citizens cannot run freely," added DiSegni, demanding that attention be paid to the "commitment to consistency".
"Two cities in Calabria" were involved in organizing the marathon, she concluded.
