Three men were indicted for kidnapping and sequestration by an organized gang, and one of them also for attempted murder of persons holding public authority, after violence during the night from Thursday to Friday in Jarville (Meurthe -et-Moselle), according to the prosecution on Tuesday.
The three men were placed in pre-trial detention, Nancy public prosecutor François Capin-Dulhoste told AFP.
Six individuals were arrested on Friday shortly after 3:00 a.m., spotted by a crew from the anti-crime brigade from the Nancy police station on patrol in Jarville-la-Malgrange.
Two of them, aged 49 and 28 and from Besançon, wearing balaclavas and fake “
police
” armbands, had tried to flee in an Audi by driving towards the police, before hitting a dirt road. full and being caught by the police.
When they arrested him, the driver of the car had a gunshot wound to the forearm.
A possible link with drug trafficking
Another police team arrested another man, aged 26, who had “
hid in a trash can
” nearby, according to the prosecutor.
Three other individuals were also arrested in the area, including two wearing “
tightening ties
” on their wrists, he said.
The six men's police custody was extended twice, first by 24 hours, then by 48 hours for offenses relating to organized crime.
The two passengers in the Audi and the man discovered in the trash bin were ultimately indicted, while the three others were released.
The three men being prosecuted are unfavorably known to the courts for acts of “
violence, criminal conspiracy and kidnapping and sequestration
”, specified François Capin-Dulhoste.
The investigation, entrusted to the territorial crime division, seems to be focused on a case linked to drug trafficking, a source close to the case said on Friday.
