“There was no operation of the restaurant that day so no one was present on board and the incident caused no casualties,” the firefighters confirmed.
“Don’t sink the boat”
On site, 80 firefighters and 20 trucks were deployed from 9:45 p.m. to contain the flames which were engulfing this 1,000 m2 barge arranged on two levels.
The fire was extinguished by officers within two hours.
“What is tricky with this type of intervention is that we have to be careful not to sink the boat with the water we send on it,” explains a firefighter.
The impressive scene, just in front of the City of Fashion and Design, was filmed by passers-by from a bridge.
