The Dreimühlenviertel is considered a difficult area for restaurateurs.

A sign on a Greek restaurant now keeps things guessing.

Munich – “Actually, we recently talked about replacing the ventilation system.

Now it's even called

.

So it remains exciting,” read one well-informed Instagram channel.

A sign on the entrance door to Aliki gave rise to speculation.

The Greek restaurant in the Dreimühlenviertel only opened in autumn 2022.

Local in Munich advertises “new opening 15 months after opening”

The area around Ehrengutstrasse is considered a complicated area for restaurateurs.

As Aliki's predecessor, Spaten-Sepp was unable to shape an era in the building that had previously housed the cult bar Bavarese for 15 years.

Its operator came to a bitter conclusion at the farewell party in 2019: “The city is simply becoming too expensive, kitchen staff can no longer afford Munich.”

Is the next change imminent on Ehrengutstrasse?

Gastro blogger “GlockenTweet” also wondered about the puzzling clue in a post: “15 months after opening, the Aliki in the Dreimühlenviertel is already advertising a new opening.”

Aliki operators want to score points with an “improved concept” in 2024

When asked by our editorial team, the Aliki operators explained: “We have renovated and replaced our ventilation so that you can now sit comfortably inside.

The menu has also changed a bit.” The concept of the restaurant has not been adjusted, but should instead be “improved” in 2024.

The Greek restaurant did not celebrate a reopening in the true sense of the word on January 18th.

Thomas Geppert, regional manager of DEHOGA Bavaria, predicts tough times for Munich restaurateurs.

With reference to the VAT adjustment that took place at the beginning of the year, he warned in an interview with our editorial team: “Even here, around 300 companies have to close.

This is not an exaggeration, but a realistic scenario.” Carla Krolage from the Munich ifo Institute revealed a slightly different view of the heated tax debate.
