The year 2024 in Kirchheim will be dominated by the State Garden Show.

What else is coming up?

An overview.

Kirchheim - With almost 50 million euros in debt, hardly any reserves left and projects such as the town hall or the high school that are much more expensive and not completed on time, the future in Kirchheim is challenging.

In 2024, however, the state horticultural show will be “the” dominant topic, plus there will be many new residents, a new commercial center – and the hope of increasing trade tax revenue.

That's positive, because treasurer Christine Brunner-Ernst is expecting almost 20 million euros in this area, and construction on the new craftsman's farm on Taxetstrasse is scheduled to begin in 2024; it offers space for small and medium-sized companies.

These, like the planned commercial areas Campus Heimstetten and Campus Kirchheim, are intended to further increase trade taxes in the long term.

Soon more than 14,000 residents

In terms of income tax, the treasurer also expects an increase of four million as early as 2024, despite the currently meager value of under ten million, mainly due to immigration from the new town center “Kirchheim 2030”.

A good 800 new Kirchheim residents have already moved in, meaning the community will soon exceed the 14,000 population mark.

By 2030 there will be over 2,500 more citizens.

Mayor Stephan Keck (SPD) also points out that the high level of debt is offset by a large area of around 36,000 square meters of building land worth at least 60 million euros.

The biggest project in 2024 will of course be the State Garden Show (LGS), which starts on May 15th.

Over 1,200 season tickets have already been sold, there will be almost 2,500 events over the 145 event days and tens of thousands of visitors will be drawn to Kirchheim, to an area the size of 14 football fields.

From the former “Kirchheimer Egg” an intersection with a pedestrian and cyclist bridge will be created up to the State Garden Show.

By then, the new intersection between Münchner Straße and Heimstettener Moosweg, including a wide cycle and pedestrian bridge, will also replace the previous “Kirchheimer Egg”.

There are also cycle paths, and the second bridge on Wacholderweg over state road 2082 should also be finished.

The one on Ludwigstrasse is already being used diligently by the people of Kirchheim.

However, the new town hall will not be finished, there were problems with planners and construction companies, and now the house will not be available for occupancy until the end of 2024.

Everyone is working hard to ensure that at least the restaurants at the new Parksee and the foyer with the exhibition about Kirchheim are ready for the LGS.

The new Heimstettener Straße was completed ahead of schedule from the town hall along the schools to the Collegium senior citizens' home.

The outdoor areas of the elementary and middle school have been renovated and will be handed over to students in spring 2024.

The containers for the underground recycling islands are ready.

The above-ground collection points are being replaced throughout the municipality and new locations are being created.

The development at the new high school is less encouraging: not only is it becoming more and more expensive, but it will probably not be finished until autumn 2025.

This also delays the urgently needed renovation of the elementary and middle school.

At Collegium 2000, construction is scheduled to begin in 2024 for 60 senior-friendly, assisted apartments, but there are still numerous open questions regarding the planned new construction of the nursing home.

Street lighting will be converted to LED, additional municipal buildings will be equipped with PV systems and all above-ground recycling islands will be converted into underground systems, each costing 80,000 euros.

There are several new recycling islands in the new development areas, and the recycling center will have a new operator from January.
