BTS: the specialties most coveted by students via Parcoursup

Highlights: The Technician Certificate Higher (BTS) is a short diploma which is prepared in two years just after the Bac. 49% of high school students have expressed at least one wish via Parcoursup in BTS in 2023. The BTS MCO Operational Commercial Management is the most coveted with 183,258 wishes for years. More than half of BTS graduates continue their studies, particularly in a professional degree (bac+3). The top 30 most chosen BTS specialties are Commerce, management, tourism and IT services to organizations.

Just after the License, the BTS is the type of training most coveted by high school students, especially coming from the Techno and Pro series, in total 49% of high school students have expressed at least one wish via Parcoursup in BTS in 2023. The Technician Certificate Higher (BTS) is a short diploma which is prepared in two years just after the Bac, very specialized, it aims to quickly enter the world of work but in practice the majority of students continue their studies.

Very specialized, this diploma prepares you for very specific professions, in work-study or traditional ways: there are more than a hundred different specialties, and here are the ones most chosen by students, in terms of number of wishes.

Top 30 most chosen BTS specialties

The BTS MCO Operational Commercial Management (formerly “MUC” Commercial Unit Management) is the most coveted with 183,258 wishes for years;

it represents the quickest route to sales professions and why not to the creation of a business or a company.

  • Please note, the BTS is a selective training with a limited number of students per class (like in high school): a complete file with a well-worked cover letter are essential for applying via Parcoursup.

    Moreover, to avoid finding themselves without any acceptance for next year, 50% of students who confirmed a wish in BTS also confirmed a wish in License (non-selective), and 43% in BUT (another type of training so as not to put all your eggs in one basket!).
