Frank Farian is dead. The producer and former pop singer achieved worldwide fame with Milli-Vanilli and Boney M.
Update from January 23rd, 7:50 p.m.:
Successful producer Frank Farian, who constantly created world hits, is dead. The cause is not known.
Simon Verhoeven, director and screenwriter of the film “Girl You Know It's True,” which tells the story of the R&B duo Milli-Vanilli, also commented on the producer's death.
He called Farian a “talent of the century.”
He “worked his way with unbridled ambition from the poorest backgrounds in the German provinces to the top of international pop music.”
“His music will live on,” said former Milli Vanilli star Fabrice Morvan.
Ex-Modern Talking singer Thomas Anders also mourned the loss of the producer.
“The focus of his life was basically music,” he said in an interview with the radio station
RPR1
.
“Frank Farian was one of the first to prove that pop music from Germany can also be internationally successful,” said Minister of State for Culture Claudia Roth in praise of the musician.

Miami/USA - The German pop music producer and ex-pop singer Frank Farian is dead. As the Allendorf Media agency announced on behalf of his family, he is at home in Miami at the age of 82 US state of Florida died.

The creator of the groups Milli Vanilli and Boney M. fell asleep peacefully in his apartment.
The musician and producer sold over 800 million records in his life.
The cause of death is not mentioned.

As Farian himself said in an interview with the
Bild newspaper
, he had to undergo serious heart surgery in 2022 at the age of 80.
A pig heart valve was inserted, which saved his life.
“Without the new heart valve, I might have died,” he said at the time.
But as
Bild
has learned, the musician became increasingly weaker after the procedure.
He had to use a wheelchair and had to rely on a breathing machine because of lung problems.
In addition, he found it difficult to speak.
Frank Farian died: breakthrough in the early 1990s
Frank Farian was born on July 18, 1941 in Kirn, Rhineland-Palatinate.
After training as a chef, he devoted himself to his musical passion and built his own studio in the attic of his apartment.
From 1961 he made rock'n'roll music in the group Frankie and the Shadows.
At the end of the sixties he continued as a solo artist and pop singer.
He released "Dana my Love" and "That's how love has to be" and created a number 1 hit with "Rocky" in 1976.

As a producer for the disco pop groups Boney M. and Milli-Vanilli, Farian gained worldwide fame in the music business.
At the beginning of the 1990s it became known that the two members of the band Milli Vanilli did not sing themselves.
The most famous songs written by Farian include “Rivers of Babylon”, “Rasputin” and “Daddy Cool”.
Musician and producer Frank Farian's life's work continues
Part of Farian's life story is currently being shown in cinemas.
The film "Girl you know it's true" tells about his time with Milli Vanilli.
He is embodied here by Matthias Schweighöfer.
In the last few months he was still actively working on music for No Mercy and Milli Vanilli and a musical.
The Frank Farian Foundation wants to complete his projects even after his death.
