Sandra Hülser is in the running for the world's most important film award.
The Academy announced this on Tuesday.
Two German directors are also nominated.
Los Angeles – The 96th Academy Awards will take place on the night of March 10th to 11th.
Now the Academy has announced this year's nominations.
A German actress will also be there in 2024.

Sandra Hülser nominated for “Best Actress” in “Anatomy of a Case”
Sandra Hülser (45) is nominated for best actress.
The great praise that she received for her latest film suggested that she would be nominated.
In the French film “Anatomy of a Case” she plays a writer suspected of murder.
The film, directed by Justine Triet, is also nominated for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay.
In the best actress category, Hülser competes against well-known names.
Nominees include Emma Stone (“Poor Things”), Carey Mulligan (“Maestro”), Lily Gladstone (“Killers of the Flower Moon”) and Annette Bening (“Nyad”).
She also appears in the film “The Zone of Interest”.
This was nominated for the categories of best adapted screenplay and best director.
But not the actress.
Hülser was already nominated for the Golden Globes in 2023, but came away empty-handed.

National Society of Film Critics
previously named her best actress in “Anatomy of a Case” and “The Zone of Interest.”
Further Oscar nominations for Germany – “Best International Film”
Receiving an Oscar would be truly extraordinary for a German actress.
Luise Rainer was the only German to win the “Best Actress” category – twice.
First with “The Great Ziegfeld” and then for “The Good Earth” in 1937. The last Oscar was 86 years ago.

Also nominated for the Oscar this year are the German directors Wim Wenders and Ilker Catak, who are in the best international film category with their films “Perfect Days” for Japan and “The Teacher’s Room” for Germany.
