People experienced a nightmare on a ferry in Italy.

Shortly before arriving in port, eight-meter waves hit the ship.

Ponza – Shortly before docking in the port, an Italy ferry is at the mercy of huge waves and wind.

The sea tosses the passenger ship back and forth like a toy.

Dramatic scenes of this moment can be seen on videos.

Apparently there are no injuries.

But the damage to the cargo area is extensive.

120 people were on board a Quirino ferry from Formia to the island of Ponza.

The ship left at 9 a.m. on Saturday (January 20).

It reached the island of Ponza around midday.

Then a drama unfolded in bad weather.

Shortly before the end of the crossing, the people on board experienced a real nightmare.

Eight-meter waves hit the passenger ship during the docking maneuver.

East wind whipped.

The ferry threatened to capsize.

None of the passengers or employees on board were apparently injured.

The greatest damage was recorded in the cargo hold.

Vehicles overturned due to the waves.

Cars and trucks collapsed on top of each other.

Goods from vans are completely scattered, as can be seen in photos on social networks.

After the ferry arrived at the quay, a fellow passenger documented the consequences below deck.

A video is shared particularly frequently on platform X that shows the ferry from above in the port of Ponza.

Mayor warns of “tragedy” after ferry incident in port

“We cannot wait any longer, there is a serious risk of tragedy,” Ponza mayor Francesco Ambrosino said, according to Rai TV channel.

“We need a safe harbor and the fleet of ships and hydrofoils also needs to be modernized.”
