Already on his first day in office, Acting Commissioner of the Prisons Service Kobi Yacovi held a first meeting today (Sunday) with the senior command staff of the organization and presented them with a series of decisions that he intends to promote, according to which his words will be "an important and central link in the chain of fighting terrorism and crime."

Gonder Yacovi presented his goals, with the first priority being the worsening of the prison conditions of the security prisoners.

This, in accordance with the recommendations of the Ketbi Committee, which have not been implemented to date due to the opposition of security and political parties.

According to the plan, a dedicated headquarters will be established for the professional treatment of security prisoners, for the implementation of a horizontal policy in all the wings and prisons, along with the promotion of cell phone masking in the security wings.

Another plan presented by Yacovi during the meeting is promoting the establishment of a dedicated wing and later a dedicated facility for senior terrorists and heads of criminal organizations.

Referring to the case of prison guards, Ya'akovi said that the case cannot be ignored, and that, among other things, he will promote the use of a polygraph test on the organization's senior officials - as a guarantee of purity of character and the public's trust in its servants.

In light of this, Yacovi directed SBS Ombudsman Eran Nahon, who was returned to his post today after being removed from his post by outgoing Commissioner Cathy Perry, to quickly advance an amendment to the prisons ordinance.

According to the amendment, the organization's senior officers and those in sensitive positions will undergo, similar to the Israel Police, occupational suitability tests that include a polygraph.

"Shavas has gone through difficult upheavals in recent times.

The escape of the security prisoners from the Gilboa prison, the reopening of the custody case, other and difficult events that were discovered in the Ramon prison and other facilities," Yacovi said at the staff meeting, "all of these obligate us to an in-depth and uncompromising examination.

I do not intend to paint a negative and black picture of the organization here, but I do not intend to close my eyes.

This is the challenge for all of us.

As stated, we must not dismiss these cases as local problems and many of the issues that have come up and those that will come up are partly derived from the events and lessons of the past."
