"The possibility of allowing, under certain conditions, the research or cultivation of geothermal resources in thermal areas, does not intend in any way to undermine the thermal activity and the water environment that characterizes them.
Any request for research permit, and possibly concession of areas, must rigorously demonstrate that there is no interference of any kind between the exercise of the geothermal electric activity and the natural resource used for thermal use".
The Ministry of the Environment and Energy Safety (Mase) specifies this in a note.
"In addition to the necessary fulfillment of rigorous technical conditions - continues the Ministry -, the evaluation of the competent authorities for issuing the research permit and cultivation concessions must be added, called upon to reconcile, on the basis of the project presented, any conflicting needs in relation to the different uses. If the thermal activity and the related water environment could be said to be negatively affected by the research or cultivation of the geothermal resource, this would not be authorized".
