Many Germans do not want to miss out on their vacation despite price increases.
After all, the costs for some package holiday destinations have risen comparatively moderately.
It's no secret that early bookers can often get the cheapest prices.
But this year it is probably truer than ever: “The Germans are in the mood to travel,” says Norbert Fiebig, President of the
German Travel Association (DRV)
.
“And they are booking particularly early this year.
Early booking will be very trendy in 2024.” This would be reflected in the high early bird sales for the coming summer.
According to an evaluation by
Travel Data + Analytics (TDA)
on behalf of the
DRV
, these are already significantly higher than the values of 2023 and those of the pre-Corona year 2019.
Package holidays 2024: Price increases again compared to the previous year
Turkey will be popular again as a travel destination in 2024.
However, prices have also increased somewhat here.

According to
DRV,
the most popular travel destinations in the summer of 2024 will once again be the classic travel destinations around the Eastern Mediterranean - i.e. Turkey and Greece.
There are also the Spanish archipelagos of the Balearic Islands, Canary Islands and mainland Spain.
Egypt and Tunisia are also attracting more and more holidaymakers.
Compared to the previous year, however, package holidays for all of these travel destinations have become more expensive again, as an analysis by the comparison portal

has shown.
For some, however, less than for others.

Prices for package holidays rose the most for Portugal (+ 10 percent) and Greece (+ 9 percent).
Instead of 116 euros for flights and overnight stays per day, holidaymakers now have to pay 128 euros in Portugal, in Hellas it is 127 euros after previously 117 euros.
The costs for Egypt (+2 percent) and the United Arab Emirates (+3 percent) increased only slightly.
However, in terms of absolute numbers, Tunisia is the cheapest this year with 85 euros for flights and overnight stays per day.
On average, prices for the most booked package holiday destinations have increased by six percent in 2024.
“The earlier customers decide on a travel destination for 2024 and book their vacation, the more they can benefit from favorable early bird conditions,” says Martin Zier, expert for package holidays at

According to the DRV,
early bird discounts usually apply
until the end of February or the end of March.
