Robbery in the old town: Perpetrators tie up jeweler and his wife - large-scale police manhunt
The target of the perpetrators (the police assumed there were four men on Tuesday evening) was the Fritz Koch jewelry store on Untermarkt.
It was only in September last year that unknown people attempted to break into the shop.
As reported, the store on the Untermarkt is closing shortly; the clearance sale has been running since December last year.
According to Koch, the perpetrators broke into the commercial and residential building from the back.
He was upstairs at the time of the attack and his wife Ute was driving.
When she returned around 6:20 p.m. and unlocked the front door, she found herself face to face with the perpetrators.
Perpetrators tied Jeweler's hands behind his back
Koch does not want to go into detail for tactical reasons.
However, in an interview with our newspaper, he reported that both his wife and himself were physically attacked by the robbers, who demanded that they hand over cash.
“My hands were tied behind my back and I had to lie on my stomach.” He and his wife survived the robbery, “thank God, physically unharmed,” the jeweler told our newspaper on Wednesday morning.
Police helicopter circles over Loisachstadt
The perpetrators managed to escape and the couple were able to free themselves from their shackles.
Fritz Koch dialed the emergency number shortly before 7 p.m., and shortly afterwards the police launched a large-scale manhunt.
Several patrol cars were involved.
A police helicopter circled over Loisachstadt for a good half an hour, the crew searched for the fleeing perpetrators using a thermal imaging camera.
The police have not yet provided any information about the results of the search.
I wouldn't wish something like that on my worst enemy.
Jeweler Fritz Koch a few hours after the robbery
Fritz Koch cannot yet say whether any loot fell into the hands of the robbers.
The forensics department has not yet released the business premises.
Anyone who knows the jeweler, who was an active member of the Wolfratshausen fire department for years, knows that nothing can shake the 71-year-old so quickly.
But the events on Tuesday evening, “I wouldn’t wish something like that on my worst enemy.”
According to him, the haunting lasted around 20 minutes.
“It was a very, very long 20 minutes.”
