The arch-favorite of the American right Donald Trump won the Republican primary in New Hampshire on Tuesday evening against his rival Nikki Haley, clearing the former president's path to the nomination of the Republican Party for the presidential election in November against Joe Biden.
According to American television projections, the arch-favorite of the Republican primaries and former president of the United States won the vote in New Hampshire, ahead of his former ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, 52 years old.
If she congratulated Mr. Trump on his victory in this small northeastern state where she has a number of supporters, Nikki Haley affirmed that “the race (was) far from over”.
And she warned Republicans that “a Trump inauguration would be a victory for Biden” on November 5.
Democratic President Joe Biden, for his part, warned Tuesday evening that democracy was “at stake” after the victory of his Republican rival Donald Trump in the right-wing primary in New Hampshire.
“It is now clear that Donald Trump will be the Republican candidate.
And my message to the country is that the stakes couldn't be higher.
Our democracy.
Our individual freedoms (…).
Our economy (…).
Everything is at stake,” he wrote in a statement.
“They will all vote for me again”
Since his defeat in November 2020, which he never admitted to President Biden and while he faces four criminal trials this year, Donald Trump is determined to take his revenge in November on his Democratic rival.
“They will all vote for me again (…).
Biden is the worst president in the history of this country,” Trump said near a polling station in New Hampshire which was organizing primaries for both parties, Republican and Democratic.
To face the outgoing president on November 5, Donald Trump will need to be invested this summer by his party's convention, at the end of all the primaries in the American states against his rival Nikki Haley.
The New Hampshire primaries, where the last polling stations closed at 8 p.m. (1 a.m. GMT Wednesday), saw “very strong participation” according to local authorities.
During his last campaign meeting Monday evening, Donald Trump once again attacked Nikki Haley, "a candidate who loses and who will put America last."
“If you want a president who puts America first every time, then vote Donald Trump,” he said.
The tycoon had already won the first primary in Iowa on January 15.

Nikki Haley, former Republican governor of South Carolina, rejects pressure to step down.
