80% of American voters support Israel against Hamas, according to the new Harvard-Harris poll.
According to the survey, conducted among 2,346 registered voters, 20% support Hamas.
It was found that the rate of support for Israel is directly proportional to age: thus, if among the 55-64 year olds 90% support Israel, and among the 65+ year olds it is 93%, the support rate is smaller as they come and go down over the years.
The situation worsens especially among the youngest: if among the 25-34 year olds 70% support Israel, among the 18-24 year olds this rate is already at 57%.
More in the findings: 74% of the respondents said that the terrorist attack by Hamas on October 7th amounted to "genocide";
75% said that it was impossible to justify it by the suffering of the Palestinian people (the rest believed that it was; among the 18-24 year olds, the proportion of those justifying it is 46%);
74% believe that Hamas would like to commit genocide against the Jews.
Against the background of Israel being accused of genocide by South Africa at the Hague Tribunal, voters were asked if Israel was only defending itself - or if there is also room for suspicion of genocide.
66% said that the war of iron swords is purely self-defense, 34% that it also has an element of genocide.
Among the 18-24 year olds, there is a majority for those who believe that there is also genocide in Israel's actions: 57% versus 43% who do not believe so.
The participants of the survey, conducted on January 17-18, were also asked if it was possible to negotiate with Hamas for peace.
67% said no.
Among young people aged 18-24, 60% actually think so.
