Brandenburg's Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke (SPD) attacked the AfD in view of calls for a so-called remigration of people.

“Racists and right-wing extremists will never be allowed to bring our country to ruin again,” said Woidke in the state parliament in Potsdam on Wednesday.

When right-wing extremists use the term remigration, they usually mean that large numbers of people of foreign origin should leave the country - even under duress.

Potsdam - Woidke said that in the past few weeks more than a million people have demonstrated for cosmopolitanism, tolerance, freedom and democracy.

“People are fed up with right-wing extremists and racists who act more and more openly and boldly.”

The AfD parliamentary group is calling for illegal naturalizations to be revoked and refers to the Citizenship Act.

She also wants the consistent deportation of all foreigners who are obliged to leave the country.

According to the application, it is not possible to explain to “the German population” why such people could stay in Germany despite the final rejection.

The AfD MP Lena Kotré criticized the new citizenship law for faster naturalization: “Do you want to use this to gain new voters or do you want to abolish this country in its cultural circumstances and values?”

The other groups voted against the motion.

They accused the AfD of ultimately aiming for deportation.

“Remigration” is the “bad word of the year” for 2023; the jury sees it as a cover vocabulary that right-wing extremists want to use to disguise the intention of mass deportations of people with a migration background.

Interior Minister Michael Stübgen (CDU) accused the AfD of wanting complete isolation and a Germany free of foreigners.

“You from the AfD want to turn Germany into North Korea,” said the head of the Interior Ministers’ Conference.

“Racism is spewing like lava from the cracks of their party.” Stübgen said: “By adopting the inhumane concepts of a crazy Austrian, they want to practice what was called racial hygiene under the National Socialists.”

The media company Correctiv made public a meeting of radical right-wingers in Potsdam in November, in which AfD politicians as well as individual members of the CDU and the very conservative Values Union took part.

The former head of the Identitarian Movement in Austria, Martin Sellner, said he spoke about “remigration” at the meeting.
