Shocking moment at the Eschenloh ski lift: A little girl falls in the lift, the bar apparently gets caught on the helmet and cuts off the child's air.

First responders rushed to the rescue.

Eschenlohe

– The short ski slope Auf der Rieder near the Seven Springs in Eschenlohe is ideal for practicing.

Not only children can learn to ski there, adult beginners can also find good conditions there.

Three runs of different levels of difficulty are available.

At the moment there is a standstill, the rain and the relatively warm weather have melted the snow cover.

Little girl has a serious fall - ventilation necessary

On Monday you could still weave down the slope.

A little girl from Eschenlohe also hit the slopes on the Rieder in the afternoon.

The accident then happened in the elevator, already relatively high up: the elementary school child fell, and then the elevator bar apparently got caught on the helmet and cut off the girl's air.

“The child was given initial care by the 'on-site helper' Eschenlohe,” said Jörg Jovy, press spokesman for the district association of the Bavarian Red Cross.

“Ventilation was necessary.”

The helicopter flew in and took the girl - Jovy's age is not known - to the children's clinic in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

However, Jovy can give the all-clear: “The child is fine.” The press spokesman was unable to provide any more details about the incident.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular GAP newsletter.)

The elevator belongs to the municipality, but the mayor denies that the accident had anything to do with the technology

The lift is owned by the municipality of Eschenlohe.

Mayor Anton Kölbl (CSU) only knows what happened late on Monday afternoon “from stories,” as he said when asked by Tagblatt.

“As far as I can tell, the accident has nothing to do with the technology of the lift.” The TÜV comes regularly.

The facility is still relatively new.

Closer to the action was Klement Gilg, who took over the operation of the lift for the community of Eschenlohe.

When the accident happened, he was sitting down in the elevator house.

“I switched it off straight away,” he says.

“The child fell.

The bracket got caught in the helmet.

I don't know anything else.” The accident didn't leave him unmoved; he speaks of it as a “shock”.
