According to authorities, property guards from the Berlin police prevented an arson at the Iranian embassy premises.

A 42-year-old woman poured gasoline from a canister at the gate to the entrance to the property in Steglitz-Zehlendorf on Thursday morning around 6:20 a.m., the police said.

However, two security guards prevented the Iranian national from further emptying the canister.

- The 42-year-old then tried to throw a lighter into the pool - but the gasoline did not ignite.

According to the information, the property guards overpowered the woman by also using irritant gas.

As a result, the 42-year-old was slightly injured.

Rescue workers treated her, it was said.

An identification process was then carried out, for example fingerprints were taken.

The background to the crime on Podbielskiallee was still unclear.

The suspects' motivation still needs to be examined, said a police spokeswoman.

The investigation is carried out by the State Criminal Police Office (LKA).
