The train drivers' union wants to strike for six days starting Wednesday.

Rail traffic is affected throughout Bavaria, but there are exceptions.

Munich – The train drivers of the GDL union want to stop work again.

Rail traffic throughout Bavaria is affected.

Deutsche Bahn expects severe disruption to rail traffic.

Because this time the GDL wants to strike from early Wednesday morning to Monday evening, i.e. for a full six days.

Private railway companies, on the other hand, are only partially affected or not affected at all.

“Not directly affected”: Go-Ahead wants to limit the effects of the warning strike

According to a statement on Monday (January 22nd), Go-Ahead was already able to agree on a collective agreement with the GDL for its operating staff.

Go-Ahead Bayern’s train traffic is “not directly affected,” the company writes.

Train cancellations and delays could still occur: "If, for example, DB InfraGO's infrastructure facilities were to go on strike, or if train drivers did not arrive at their place of work on time on their way to work due to a strike on connections."

During the GDL strikes in recent months, the so-called Augsburg network was able to operate “without any major disruption,” according to the statement.

“In the Allgäu E-Netz, train traffic between Buchloe and Lindau was repeatedly interrupted by striking DB dispatchers,” says Go-Ahead.

“We are trying to get buses for this route.”

The timetable for this can be found on the website.

Passengers should inform themselves online before starting their journey.

ÖBB warns – Westbahn to Vienna, however, wants to run

Not only regional train traffic, but also international train traffic is likely to be restricted.

The Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) announced on its website that there would probably be no cross-border trains running to and from Germany during the strike.

The private Westbahn, on the other hand, wants to allow its trains to run on the Munich-Vienna route via Rosenheim without restrictions.

According to a statement, the company will also accept DB and ÖBB tickets.
