The municipality of Karlsfeld concludes a cooperation agreement with the district youth association.
Because they want to give youth work new impetus.
Karlsfeld - "We hope to get youth work going again," said Karlsfeld's mayor Stefan Kolbe about the cooperation agreement that he and the chairwoman of the Dachau district youth group, Julia Neumann, have now signed.
The main committee made a corresponding decision in a non-public meeting last week.
Youth center and outreach youth work are handed over
According to the agreement, two of the three pillars of youth work in Karlsfeld will no longer be the responsibility of the municipality but of the district youth group: the youth center and outreach youth work, i.e. the street worker deployment.
Youth social work at the middle school, however, remains in the hands of the community.
Karlsfeld is therefore taking the opposite approach to the municipality of Bergkirchen, which has terminated its cooperation with the district youth association and wants to take over youth work itself again from 2025 (we reported).
For some time now there have been fewer and fewer offers for the youth in the community: the Mini-Karlsfeld holiday program could not take place last summer.
The opening hours of the youth center were increasingly thinned out due to a lack of staff.
The position of a second street worker could not be filled.
And at the end of the year, the social worker and street worker Charide Christin von der Ahe also resigned.
“We have been intensively looking for new people for over two years,” says Kolbe.
Vain.
That's why it was decided to make a "paradigm change" and assign these tasks to the district youth group.
“He has better options with his portfolio,” says Kolbe.
He spoke of a “future project” that is a “delicate plant but also needs to be nurtured and cared for.”
KJR brings contacts, skills and experience
The district youth group has been bringing its portfolio, i.e. its contacts, skills and experiences, to Karlsfeld for some time, as managing director Ludwig Gasteiger said.
For example, with all-day education at primary schools including lunchtime care.
The “Partnership for Democracy” concept at middle schools is a model for success.
This was shown by the nationwide first prize for democratic school development, which the middle school won in 2023.
For the new task, the aim is to use the synergies and resources available to the association, said chairwoman Julia Neumann.
Youth work should be fun again.
The head of the new youth work in Karlsfeld, Katja Faig, already has a festival in mind and wants to offer longer opening times, especially for the youth center.
Of course, this requires employees.
We are looking for a manager for the house, a pedagogical person and someone for outreach youth work.
Even if personnel management was outsourced, the costs remain with the municipality: around 650,000 euros, as head of the department Francesco Cataldo announced.
The contract initially runs for five years.
