Musical workshops in prison for prisoners who will also make up the jury for a new prize, "The house by the sea", to be awarded to one of the eight finalists of the 35th edition of Musicultura, Festival of popular and authorial songs, whose evenings finals will take place on 21 and 22 June at the Arena Sferisterio in Macerata.
The project is underway, born in collaboration between Musicultura, represented by the artistic director Ezio Nannipieri, the Guarantor of Person's Rights in the Marche Giancarlo Giulianelli and the director of the penitentiary institutes of Ancona Manuela Ceresani.
The initiative, among the prison activities with the aim of re-education and reintegration but also cultural integration, will involve seven inmates of the prison, with attenuated custody, of Barcaglione in Ancona: two Italians, two Albanians, a Kosovar, a Moroccan, an Argentinian.
In the laboratory courses, with various meetings which will continue until June, the inmates will be supported by two Musiculture tutors and the president of the Art'O Association: they will help to encourage the development of musical analysis skills useful for getting to the heart of listening to the Festival's songs.
The inmate-jurors will be shown and listen to the artists' performances, edited in reduced versions to allow easy enjoyment and remote evaluation, so as to also contribute to the choice of the finalists.
The name of the award is also the title of the song "La casa inriva al mare", a song by Lucio Dalla which talks about prison reality, which served as an incipit to trigger the meeting with the inmates and the training course.
The project will end in July, when the artist who wins the prize awarded by the inmates (also up for grabs is the sum of 2 thousand euros) will go to the Barcaglione prison to meet the inmates and perform in a live musical happening.
Compatibly with the releases, the various conditions envisaged and the permissions of the judicial authority, participation in some form in the final evenings of Music of some of the inmate-jurors is not excluded.
