The City has still not mourned the loss of the call for tenders for the management of the Père-Lachaise crematorium and the future Paris crematorium, to the benefit of a private behemoth in the sector.
In 2019, the Paris Council entrusted, via a public service delegation contract, the construction of a semi-buried “funeral park” at Porte de la Villette (19th century), but also the renovation of the historic Père-Lachaise crematorium. (20th century) to the private company SCF-Funecap.
The decision, which tore the majority apart, had been taken to the detriment of Saempf, a mixed economy company for funeral directors in the City of Paris.
