St. Leon-Rot - All clear in St. Leon-Rot: After the violent death of a student at a school near Heidelberg, the suspected perpetrator has been caught.
The police announced this on Thursday.
The 18-year-old is said to have previously killed a student of the same age at the high school and then fled.
He was temporarily arrested by police officers about two and a half hours after the crime.
The police are currently assuming that it was a relationship act, but are not giving any further details.
Further details about the victim or the alleged perpetrator, a student, are not yet known.
After the crime, police said an attempt was made to resuscitate the student at school - without success.
The school was evacuated and numerous students were looked after at a collection point or picked up by their parents.
Heavily armed police searched the school after the crime.
Rescue workers and a helicopter were on duty, as were emergency chaplains and between 15 and 20 police vehicles, the criminal police and the fire department were drawn to the school after the alarm.
The act is reminiscent of another violent act in Offenburg last November.
At that time, a 15-year-old student shot a peer in a special needs school.
According to police, the German's attack took place in the suspect's ninth grade class.
The 15-year-old student came into his classroom and shot his classmate in the back of the head with a handgun.
