According to the report in the "Wall Street Journal", since the war in Gaza began, the Biden administration has asked Beijing to convey messages to Iran that China has considerable influence over it.

American officials said that China is indeed sending messages, but the extent of the talks with Tehran is unknown.

"China has influence over Tehran, and it has the ability to hold talks with our Iranian leaders," said White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby.

"That's why we said again and say: we welcome a constructive role on the part of China, which will take advantage of the access it has to stop the flow of weapons to the Houthis."

Yesterday, the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing, Wang Wenbin, said that his country is "very concerned about the rapid escalation in the Red Sea" and is in close contact "with the various parties" to reduce tensions.

"China calls for an end to the disruption in sailing," he said.

Earlier today, the leader of the Hutus said that Artzot "will continue its operations until food and medicine reach the people in Gaza."
