Marine Le Pen is threatening to break up the AfD alliance at EU level – because of the secret meetings in Potsdam.

The plans discussed there are out of the question.

Paris - The French right-wing populist Marine Le Pen has apparently clearly distanced herself from the AfD because of the reports about the secret meeting in Potsdam.

Le Pen is also apparently considering an end to the joint group in the EU Parliament.

Le Pen said she “completely disagrees” with the proposals discussed at the meeting about the plans for “remigration” discussed in Potsdam.

Research by the investigative portal

Correctiv

revealed in the middle of the month that right-wing extremists, entrepreneurs as well as CDU and AfD members had discussed the expulsion of millions of people from Germany.

Martin Sellner, long-time spokesman for Austria's right-wing extremist "Identitarian Movement", presented a plan for a mass expulsion euphemistically called "remigration" in the hotel near Potsdam.

However, for Le Pen, who wants to run as a candidate for the fourth time in the French presidential election in 2027, such plans are out of the question.

The right-wing populist party Rassemblement National (RN), of which Le Pen is leader, has “never defended a policy of 'remigration' that would involve depriving people of the French nationality they have received, even if we have the conditions for obtaining it criticize,” said the right-wing populist.

It must therefore now be examined whether this will have “consequences” for the joint group in the EU Parliament, Le Pen continued.

So far, the AfD and RN both belong to the Identity and Democracy faction in the EU Parliament.

Trouble with Allemagne: Giorgia Meloni also sees “irreconcilable differences” with the AfD

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also sees “irreconcilable differences” between her ultra-right Fratelli d’Italia party and the AfD.

The head of government said this on January 4th at the press conference in Rome when asked whether she could imagine an alliance in Europe with the AfD from Allemagne and the French Rassemblement National.

At that time, however, the revelations from Correctiv's research were not yet available.

For Meloni at the time, it was the relations with Russia that, according to his own statements, would make such a partnership impossible.

Meloni also pointed out that neither the AfD nor the Rassemblement National are members of the European Conservatives and Reformers (ECR) group in the European Parliament.

However, Le Pen's approaches to Russia are more interesting than those of the AfD.

“I don’t give grades, but there are more or less differences with some of them, I work with the EKR,” Meloni said at the time.
