A dashcam video is causing a stir.

The police suspect that the driver of a small van wanted to discipline a truck driver - an accident occurred.

Nuremberg - “Whoever drives up is to blame?” The Middle Franconian police asked this question in a Facebook post.

Because: In a rear-end collision, the cause “almost always” lies with the driver of the rear vehicle.

The officials show that this is not always the case with a video that was recorded on the A3 near Höchstadt an der Aisch (Erlangen-Höchstadt district).

Rear-end collision on the A3 in Middle Franconia - small van suddenly brakes massively

At around 6.20 a.m. the driver of a large-capacity transporter was traveling in the direction of Würzburg.

He had loaded a “medical highloader” for Cologne Airport.

This is used to raise hospital beds and elevators to the entrance doors of aircraft.

Due to its excessive width, the transport could not initially be overtaken in the construction site, the officials explain in the Facebook post.

“Regardless of this, a 48-year-old craftsman drove his minibus up to a few meters and flashed his headlights to signal that he wanted to pass,” said the police.

About a kilometer before the Höchstadt-Ost exit, the road becomes wider so that the driver of the large-capacity van could make room.

The 48-year-old then overtook, pulled in less than a vehicle length away from the tractor-trailer, which was traveling at 80 kilometers per hour, and braked heavily for no reason.

Despite immediately braking, the tractor-trailer driver (46) was no longer able to prevent the collision.

Rear-end collision with consequences: Dashcam records crash

The force of the impact caused two chains securing the load of the 22-tonne medical highloader to break.

It hit the tail lift of the low loader and partially slipped off the loading area.

Witnesses observed the accident and a dashcam also recorded the incident.

A recovery company was necessary to get the machine back onto the loading area.

One lane in the direction of Würzburg was closed for around four hours.

Both drivers remained uninjured, but the rear of the minibus was “massively crushed” in the accident. According to “initial conservative estimates,” the material damage to the large-capacity transport and its load is at least 50,000 euros.

Did he want to discipline the driver?

The driver of the minibus did not provide any information about the reason for his emergency braking.

“But it is likely that he wanted to discipline the truck driver,” said the police.

An investigation was initiated against him for endangering road traffic and his driver's license was confiscated.

“Hopefully he has to pay the 50,000 himself and not his insurance.

The testosterone behavior of some road users should have much more severe consequences,” commented a man on the Middle Franconia police’s Facebook post.

“People like that have no place in traffic,” another person agrees.

“Unfortunately, accidents happen, human momentary error is a natural thing and can happen to anyone.

But in this case, someone deliberately provoked the accident and thereby intentionally put people in danger.

Reprimands have no place in road traffic and should be left to the designated personnel (police),” writes a man on the video.

“Wow - the appearance is gone forever.

I can't even write what swear words come to mind for that idiot.

This can end so badly that a human life is claimed.

In less than 24 hours, over 200 people have already reacted to the video, more than 60 have commented on it and over 50 people have shared it.
