Apple achieved leadership in the Chinese smartphone market for the first time in 2023, despite stiff competition from local operators and media reports on Beijing's crackdown on employees of some government agencies on the use of iPhones and fears about data security.
The Cupertino company stood at 19% of shipments, based on estimates from the specialized company Canalys, despite the serious difficulties in 2022 due to the blocking of production in China due to the 'zero tolerance' policy for Covid-19.
Behind Apple were the three local producers Vivo, Oppo and Honor, all at 16%.
