Upper Bavaria, Franconia or the Upper Palatinate: Tourists can experience exciting and at the same time relaxing short vacations throughout Bavaria - a small selection.

2 / 11Neuschwanstein Castle sits royally above Hohenschwangau.

A visit to the fairytale castle marks the start of the first day of vacation in the Allgäu.

After the tour you can walk to the famous Marienbrücke to get a fantastic view of King Ludwig II's castle.

Holidaymakers in the Hohenschwangau district (part of Schwangau in the Ostallgäu district) can also visit Hohenschwangau Castle and the Museum of the Bavarian Kings.

Right next to the latter is the Alpsee, where you can take a walk, for example.

There is also boat rental.

3 / 11On day two in the Allgäu, nature lovers in particular will get their money's worth.

Lake Forggensee is ideal for a relaxing day of swimming.

If you want a little more exercise, you can walk along the five kilometer long circular path.

There are bathing areas everywhere, and ships also sail on the largest lake in the Allgäu.

If you don't want to miss out on some sightseeing, you can pay a visit to Füssen, six kilometers away.

4 / 11The Eibsee from above.

The lake is located directly below the Zugspitze and is a wonderful day one for a short vacation in Upper Bavaria.

Holidaymakers can relax on the beaches or venture out on the water with a stand up paddle.

Boats can also be rented.

There is also a circular path around the lake.

If you want to experience even more, you can take the cable car to the Zugspitze.

5 / 11The second day of your vacation could start with a walk through idyllic Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

A hike through the Partnachklamm is also an option.

If you want to see more of Upper Bavaria, you can also pay a visit to Oberammergau or Mittenwald, for example.

6 / 11More than just a short vacation is possible in Upper Bavaria.

For example at Chiemsee.

It “is the largest lake in Bavaria and lies in a picturesque Alpine foothills.

Its appeal is not only due to the scenic beauty, but also the wide range of leisure activities,” can be read on the website.

Holidaymakers can swim, sail, rent boats or go for a walk there.

Restaurants around the lake offer Bavarian delicacies.

7 / 11On day two, you can take a trip to Berchtesgaden, 65 kilometers away.

The Watzmann can be seen in the background of this photo.

Another possibility would be Salzburg.

It is less than 60 kilometers from Chiemsee to the Austrian city.

8 / 11A visit to Nuremberg is worth it: holidaymakers can stroll through the medieval old town, visit the St. Lawrence Church or dare to climb up to the castle.

The Dürer House is also worth seeing.

If you want to visit another city on the first day of your vacation in Franconia, you can go to neighboring Fürth.

The town hall there exudes Italian flair, as the tower is modeled on the Palazzo Vecchio from Florence.

9 / 11Day two in Franconia begins with a visit to Rothenburg ob der Tauber.

One of the top sights can be seen in the picture: the Plönlein.

The city enchants visitors with its medieval charm.

Holidaymakers can walk on the city walls or visit the famous medieval crime museum.

The German Christmas Museum also invites you to visit - all year round.

If you only plan half a day in Rothenburg, you could continue on to Bamberg.

The Upper Franconian city is less than 100 kilometers away, and a visit to Little Venice, for example, is worth it.

10 / 11Upper Palatinate holidaymakers can spend the first day in Regensburg.

The cathedral and the Steiner Bridge are worth seeing, among other things.

There are also many beautiful alleys to discover when strolling through the old town.

If you long for even more culture, you can take a look at Walhalla afterwards (or of course before visiting the cathedral city).

The monument is only a 20-minute drive from Regensburg.

11 / 11On day two you can relax at the small Arbersee.

If you are traveling with children, you can then continue on to the Bayerwald Zoo, which is only a good six kilometers away.

There is also a petting zoo.
