After having calculated the "ecological damage" as closely as possible, the associations France Nature Environnement (FNE) and LPO requested this Friday, January 26 before the Marseille maritime court between 213,000 and 247,000 euros in damages from the captain of the "Take Off”, a 25 m yacht which had anchored illegally, three times in 2021 and 2022, in the middle of the Posidonia meadows, on the Côte d'Azur.

Definitively sentenced in October to a fine of 20,000 euros, this Hungarian sailor, absent from the hearing, will have to wait until February 23 to find out the amount of damages he will have to pay.

A judgment which will set a precedent if the court validates the financial compensation for the environmental damage caused by anchor drags in these seagrass beds, pledges of biodiversity, which cover the seabed.
