The insolvency application has been submitted to the Weilheim district court.

The fate of the insolvent Arena-Mittenwald-GmbH now lies in the hands of the judiciary.

Meanwhile, Karwendelbahn board member Wolfgang W. Reich has surprisingly spoken out about the future of the ice rink.

Mittenwald

- Martin Ritzer's forecasts sound bleak: "The ice stadium will be 99 percent destroyed!" The previous boss of the now more insolvent Arena-Mittenwald-GmbH is convinced of this.

On Monday, the businessman from Garmisch-Partenkirchen initiated the next act in the drama on the Isar floodplains.

He filed for insolvency at the local district court in Weilheim.

The lawyer there is now Dr.

Robert Hänel was appointed as an expert or - to put it more aptly - as insolvency administrator.

“He will examine the requirements of the insolvency application, in particular whether there is a reason for opening and what prospects there are for the continuation of the company,” says Dr.

Verena van der Auwera, the district court's press spokeswoman, with.

Justice now determines the fate of Arena-GmbH, whose leasehold contract with the owner of the ice stadium, Markt Mittenwald, would actually run until 2031.

Those responsible would have hoped for a prosperous future with investor Ritzer.

Instead, the ice cream machine will be picked up today.

But that's not the only thing that makes the entrepreneur sad and angry at the same time.

“Because EV Mittenwald still hasn’t paid its bill!”

Because EV Mittenwald still hasn't paid its bill!

Ex-arena operator Martin Ritzer

So while the ice hackers have not yet contacted Ritzer, surprisingly someone else did: Wolfgang W. Reich.

The board of Karwendelbahn-AG, which has been at loggerheads with the community for years, wants to get involved as early as December 15, 2023 - with a letter to the town hall.

In a press release from the stock corporation, Reich announced that he had asked the municipality for information regarding the arena “in order to examine an investment in the ice stadium.”

It goes on to say: “There was no reaction from the Mittenwald market.” From this, those responsible for the Karwendelbahn deduce: “Obviously the Mittenwald market has no interest in continuing the ice stadium.”

Which Mayor Enrico Corongiu (SPD) of course rejects.

The town hall boss explains the request from December 15th.

“The letter has been answered in full by Mr. Pöll (

Editor's note: municipal works manager Matthias Pöll

).” Now those responsible in the municipal office are waiting to see what the newly appointed insolvency administrator Hänel will do next.

The opening of the proceedings may fail due to a lack of assets.

Who knows.

In my opinion, the ice rink can continue if you want to.

Wolfgang W. Reich

But Wolfgang W. Reich, the controversial businessman from Heidenheim, also sought contact with the previous arena operator in the ice stadium case.

“He was interested, nothing more,” remembers Martin Ritzer, who speaks of a two-minute exchange.

And what does Wolfgang W. Reich say?

“Discussions were held with those responsible at the ice rink.” Then the important addition: “In my opinion, the ice rink can be continued if you want.”

Says the man with whom the municipality conducted countless lawsuits and fought mudslinging.

No wonder, then, that for many who are politically responsible in Mittenwald, it would be a sheer horror scenario if Heidenheimer, who is experienced in the judiciary, were in charge of their currently orphaned sports facility.

The usual aggressive Wolfgang W. Reich himself proves how deep the rifts are between the market and the Karwendelbahn board. In the press release he is quoted as follows: “Didn't the mayor, Mr. Corongiu, want to build a swimming pool?” asks he with a bilious undertone.

“If those responsible continue to act like this, there will no longer be a swimming pool or ice rink in Mittenwald,” explains the 44-year-old.

“It's just a disgrace what's going on in Mittenwald, no hotel, no swimming pool, no ice rink, but those responsible can bring lawsuits against the Karwendelbahn.

Just laughable.”

However, it is rather questionable whether such statements will earn him points in the town hall with regard to the ice rink.
