According to Labor Minister Heil, the draft law for the long-awaited pension package II is available.

This is intended to secure the pension in the longer term.

However, Heil does not want to affect the “pension at 63”.

Berlin - The traffic light government's austerity measures have also affected pensions - the reduction in federal subsidies to pension funds has caused an uproar.

The traffic light pension reform should come soon: Labor Minister Hubertus Heil (SPD) has announced that the planned package for long-term pension security will soon be launched.

Heil: Pension package should get underway quickly

“The draft law is available and should be implemented quickly after the budget resolution.

We are stabilizing the pension and securing the pension level,” Heil told the

.

The plan is to secure an existing holding line for the pension level of 48 percent in relation to wages in the long term with the pension package announced by the traffic light.

This so-called holding line currently applies to the level of statutory pension coverage until 2025.

This pension package II has been announced for months.

These include share pension plans (generational capital), which are intended to relieve the burden on pension insurance in the long term.

A capital stock is to be gradually built up from public funds, the income from which will be used to stabilize pension contributions and the pension level.

According to Labor Minister Heil, the draft law for the long-awaited pension package II is available.

Heil: “I won’t be able to retire at 70”

Because the German pension system is becoming more and more expensive - as the baby boomers retire, there are fewer and fewer contributors for more and more pensioners.

Numerous economists, but also opposition politicians from the Union, are therefore calling for even more far-reaching reforms - such as increasing the retirement age and abolishing the so-called pension at 63, which enables many people to retire a little earlier without deductions.

Minister Heil countered this criticism.

“There is no longer any pension at 63, the entry age for those who have been insured for a particularly long time is over 64 and will rise to 65,” he said.

“Anyone who has worked for 45 years has the right to retire earlier without deductions.

“I won’t be able to retire at 70, as many conservatives want,” said Heil.

The Labor Minister explained that they wanted to develop incentives so that people who could do so would voluntarily work longer.

“We are now starting a dialogue with business and trade unions.

This means that the working conditions are so good that people don’t get sick.”
