A fire broke out in the bell tower of the church of Viarmes (Val-d'Oise) on Friday midday.
The firefighters intervened a few minutes after his report.
They managed to quickly bring the outbreak under control and then had to ensure that they had ruled out any risk of recurrence.
Their work must continue for at least part of the night.

It was the workers who were working on the bell tower who alerted the firefighters.
Covered with scaffolding, the building is undergoing a major renovation.
They were doing welding work.
“When they returned from their lunch break, they realized that the fire had started.
They tried to put it out themselves but they did not succeed,” explains fire commander Arnaud Dudous.
