A meteorite fell into the garden of a family home last year.
Now the family is selling the rock - but under one condition.
Elmshorn – For the Sahins it was a day like any other.
But while the family was sitting together in the living room, they suddenly heard a loud bang from outside.
On April 25, 2023 there was a meteor shower in Schleswig-Holstein.
The family found a meteorite that had caused a 35 centimeter deep hole.
The piece of rock, which was examined by experts after its discovery, weighs 3.7 kilograms.
Luckily the chunk missed the house.
Elsewhere in Elmshorn, a smaller meteorite hit a house.
This was also analyzed and its origin determined.

Since April 2023, the meteorite has been owned by the family, who decided to sell it.
For months, willing buyers have been outdoing each other to get hold of the stone from space.

Experts identified the meteorite as a type H chondrite. These are characterized by a particularly high metal content.
The age of the rock was also determined.
It dates back to the early days of the solar system and is 4.5 billion years old.
The stone's material sheds light on its history and shows collisions in the early solar system and the asteroid belt.
Will the family get rich from the meteorite impact?
Now the piece is about to be sold.
The family has received offers from all over the world.
The father told

: “Even a dealer from India contacted me.
Then it should be auctioned in Qatar.
Once we even had interested parties from America at our door.” Despite the attractive offers, the family was not prepared to simply sell the stone.
In the meantime it was estimated at 400,000 euros.
The meteorite will now be sold for “only” 200,000 euros – but here in Germany.
“The stone stays in Germany, that was important to my family and me.
If we hadn't gotten an offer from Germany, we would have kept him." The father of the family plans to invest the money and possibly invest in real estate.
