Using solar energy as electricity: Photovoltaic systems are becoming increasingly popular.

For Geretsried, the Selfmade Energy portal shows an increase of almost 23 percent for 2023 compared to 2022.

From January to September 2023, 124 new solar systems were installed in Geretsried.

In percentage terms, the city is above the Bavarian average.

Geretsried – Electricity from the roof and the balcony is the trend.

In Geretsried, too, more and more house roofs are being equipped with photovoltaic systems.

Last year, 670 collectors were counted in the largest city in the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district.

This number was determined by Selfmade Energy, a comparison platform for solar systems.

And you can find other interesting data there.

Solar systems in Geretsried: 670 collectors counted in 2023

Selfmade Energy provides the first figures for 2018. There were already 391 solar systems in Geretsried.

The 670 photovoltaic systems that were counted in Geretsried by last September are approximately the size of five football fields.

Overall, this is an increase of 22.7 percent compared to the whole of 2022. At that time there were 546 units.

Selfmade Energy illustrates this using a diagram.

124 new PV systems were added.

Geretsried is therefore above the Bavarian average in percentage terms.

According to Selfmade Energy, this was 17.4 percent in the first three quarters of 2023 (284,922 systems in total).

“Many homeowners are cost-conscious and future-oriented,” estimates Dr.

Tim Rosengart, Managing Director of Selfmade Energy, announced the development in the third quarter of 2023.

“They want to become energetically independent and generate their own electricity,” observes Rosengart.

“They are increasingly thinking about not only investing in a new solar system, but also purchasing a heat pump or a wallbox for their new electric car.

Both fit into the energy transition, but use a lot of electricity,” says the Selfmade Energy managing director.

“What could be more obvious than having this electricity supplied to you by the sun from the roof of your own house?”

Many new solar systems in Geretsried: funding for balcony power plants is quickly empty

That's probably what many people in Geretsried thought, too, who perhaps don't necessarily want to harvest their electricity from the roof of their house, but at least from their own balcony.

In May last year, the city council decided to promote plug-in solar systems (balcony power plants).

The pot filled with 5,000 euros was quickly empty (we reported).

As the city's energy manager Roswitha Foißner explained at the city council meeting in September last year, the interest in the funding was immense.

However, some citizens were upset that the funding was exhausted so quickly.

For the coming year, the city wants to relaunch the funding program again, with twice the amount, i.e. 10,000 euros.

If you are thinking about installing a photovoltaic system on your house, you can consult the district's solar potential register in advance (www.solarkataster-toelz.de).
