Two associations announced on Friday January 26 that they had filed a complaint for homophobic discrimination against the private establishment Stanislas after the exclusion in June 2022 of a student who would have been motivated by her
“denunciation of the homophobia of members of the staff”
of the 'school.
According to this complaint consulted by AFP, which is based on an article from
Mediapart
and a report from the General Inspectorate of National Education (IGESR),
“the reasons for the exclusion of this student lie in a conflict personal relationship between the prefect (a sort of principal education advisor, editor's note) and her, because of her positions assimilated to activism, particularly on the subject of homosexuality
.
“The report adds that this prefect criticized the young girl for wearing an LGBT sweater and was familiar with homophobic remarks
,” details the complaint sent Thursday to the Paris prosecutor's office.
The father of this student had written a letter to Gabriel Attal, then Minister of National Education, accusing the prefect of harassment towards his daughter,
“particularly when the latter could not stand the constant homophobic, racist and sexist remarks”
of the prefect, adds the document.
“In-depth investigation”
When asked, the establishment indicated that it was unable to comment, having not been aware of the complaint.
“French criminal law repressing LGBTphobic comments and discrimination applies everywhere on French territory, even in Catholic educational establishments
,” said the associations’ lawyer, Maître Étienne Deshoulières, in a press release.
For Terrence Katchadourian, secretary general of Stop Homophobia,
“this complaint will allow the police to conduct an in-depth investigation inside the school, in order to shed light on the LGBTphobic actions of the management”
.
Stanislas has been in turmoil since the publication of the IGESR report reporting homophobic and sexist
“drifts”
in this prestigious private establishment under contract in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, which welcomes 3,500 students from nursery to preparatory classes.
Several episodes of this controversy concern the new Minister of National Education and Sports Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, whose children are educated at
“Stan”
.
The Paris public prosecutor's office opened an investigation in the fall, notably for public insult due to sexual orientation or gender identity, after a report from the IGESR following its report.
