When the 2024 court date became public in Austria, there was a lot of media hype.
There is even talk of freedom for the 88-year-old.

12 / 12The excitement in Austria before the court date was great.
But Josef Fritzl – who now goes by a different name – remains in custody.
Early release is currently off the table.
If the public prosecutor's office does not raise any objections, the 88-year-old can be transferred to normal prison under certain conditions.
