The advisory service in the Freising district for caring relatives and those affected has been expanded: There is now also a contact point in Au - close to home, neutral and free of charge.

Au/Hallertau

– The newly elected president of the Upper Bavaria district, Thomas Schwarzenberger, was very enthusiastic about his first visit to the hop metropolis, as well as the Freising district's commitment per se.

The reason: The second nursing base branch in the heart of Au was recently officially opened.

From now on, relatives or those affected can visit the advice center once a month.

The sponsors are the health and nursing care insurance companies, the district of Upper Bavaria and the district of Freising.

“We stand for advice that is close to home and, above all, neutral, which is also comprehensive,” explains Schwarzenberger.

The Freising district is doing exemplary work here, especially because questions about care, such as care places, are becoming increasingly important - and increasingly complex.

Due to the shortage of skilled workers in nursing, many things are becoming much more difficult; the nursing base and its branch offices can offer valuable support here.

“Today is a big event,” confirmed District Administrator Helmut Petz, who above all praised the district council in general, who had driven the branch office forward with a lot of energy, as well as district councilor Marianne Heigl and the deputy district council president Rainer Schneider in particular, who were once again strong here would have given gas.

“There are simply strokes of fate that are challenging,” said Petz, who experienced this firsthand when his father suffered a stroke.

“I somehow made my way through it and looked everywhere for information, but you never know whether you're doing the right thing,” said Petz, who at the time simply wanted a position that would “give you a hand.”

With the Au branch, the district is well covered in the north, and another nursing base branch is also planned in Moosburg.

Although the Au care base currently offers “only” one consultation per month, this would of course be quickly adapted to needs, according to the district administrator.

Overall, says Petz, it is already clear that there is a great need - there have already been around 800 consultations since the Freising care base opened in October 2022, and the trend is rising.

What worries him per se, of course: “In 20 years, every second citizen will be over 65 years old, that has dramatic effects and we cannot continue in the same mode.”

Mayor Hans Sailer is also very happy that there is now a nursing base in Au, as he had a lot to say about the historic building in which the base is housed.

The biggest advantage: “The bus stops right in front of the front door.”

Good to know

The Au branch of the nursing base is located in the building at Untere Hauptstraße 1, right next to the former Greek restaurant “Onassis”.

The consultation hours are once a month, always on the second Tuesday of the month from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

An appointment can be made at (0 81 61) 600-6 19 81 or at (0 81 61) 600-6 19 82, as well as at pflegestuetzpunkt@kreis-fs.de.
