The former Chief of Staff, Lt. Col. (Res.) Aviv Kochavi, this morning (Sunday) participated in a situation assessment of the Upper Galilee Regional Council.
Referring to the goals of the war, Kochavi said that in his view "it is possible to combine the two very important goals of the war - one to return all the abductees and the other to completely destroy the military and governmental infrastructure of Hamas."

Referring to the northern sector, Kochavi stated that "the alertness and fighting in the north must continue", and he emphasized that "the evacuation of the northern settlements of their inhabitants should not be seen as a victory for Hezbollah. This is a correct and wise operational action with the aim of protecting the citizens, who have no doubt that the burden on them is very great."

At the end of his remarks, Kochavi called on the heads of the authorities in the north to show leadership when calling on the residents to return to their homes in the future, while the IDF's broad protection of the area in the various dimensions.
