The Geo Barents, the migrant rescueship operated by NGO Doctors without Borders (MSF), will disembark 68 rescued migrants and refugees in the port of Genoa early Monday morning, sources said on Sunday.
The crew rescued the group from three boats in distress in the central Mediterranean on Thursday before being instructed to sail to the Ligurian port in northern Italy for disembarkation.
The group includes five minors and a pregnant woman.
Following preliminary health screening and identification procedures, 18 migrants and refugees will remain in Liguria while the rest will be transferred to reception facilities in other parts of Italy.
