An 8-year-old child lost his life late Saturday morning after a ski fall in the Grand-Bornand resort in Haute Savoie,
Le Figaro
learned from the Annecy PGHM, confirming information from
France Bleu
.
The little boy was skiing on a blue slope when he lost control of his skis.
Gaining speed, he then joined a black track, closed by the station.
The little boy raced down the very icy track for at least a hundred meters before stopping on a red track below.
Supported by a team of trackers, the child is then evacuated by a civil security helicopter with a doctor, a firefighter and a rescuer.
Arriving at Grenoble hospital, the child was declared dead after being taken into care.
The child, accompanied by his father, had a helmet on at the time of the fall.
“On a hard track like they are at the moment, the helmet may not be enough in the event of a fall like this
,” confides the PGHM commander who points out particularly icy slopes after an intense episode of rain.
An investigation is being carried out by the Annecy PGHM to find out how the little boy lost control of his skis.
Several people witnessed the dramatic accident.

“There have been a lot of temperature variations in recent days with very changeable conditions. Between Chamonix and Annecy, there were a lot of interventions this weekend due to the very complicated snow conditions
,” the commander also explains.
The black slope in question is poorly lit by the sun, which makes the snow difficult to ski, and which justified its closure by its resort.
