This timetable will gradually align with that already set for thermal cars.
The Council of the Union and the Parliament concluded a new agreement around ten days ago on CO2 reduction targets for buses, trucks and coaches.
As part of the “trilogue”, this three-way dialogue between the European institutions, the Council and the Parliament confirmed the objectives set by the Commission in its proposal to reduce CO2 emissions by 45% in 2030, and by 65% in 2035. and 90% in 2040 in addition to the 15% reduction by 2025, already provided for in the current regulation.
These thresholds will apply to trucks over 7.5 tonnes and coaches but also to small trucks, urban buses and trailers.
The timing is tighter for city buses.
