The GDL strike ended early.

But the S-Bahn in and around Munich is still struggling with the effects on Monday morning (January 29th).

An overview of the operating situation.

Munich - It was the good news at the weekend: The train drivers' union (GDL) and Deutsche Bahn (DB) have resumed negotiations after long disputes.

The train drivers' strike was therefore ended early.

Instead of striking until 6 p.m. on Monday, the trains will run regularly again at the beginning of the day.

But not everywhere.

Much of the Munich S-Bahn is still struggling with the effects of the strike.

Currently there are significant restrictions on S-Bahn traffic in Munich

The S-Bahn announces on its homepage that it is trying to “offer additional trips in the short term”.

But warns passengers in advance that this will “probably only be possible to a limited extent”.

Travelers can also find an overview of the current operating situation on the homepage.

A majority of the lines are currently significantly restricted:

  • S1 Freising:

There is a delay on the route due to a technical defect at a level crossing.

Travelers can expect a delay of up to 10 minutes in both directions.

In some cases, failures and premature turns are even possible, explains the S-Bahn on its homepage.

  • S1 Leuchtenberg – Freising:

the S-Bahn only runs every 60 minutes, but not to the airport.

  • S2 Markt Schwaben – Dachau:

trains run here every 20 to 40 minutes, on the other sections every hour.

  • S3 and S4:

trains run every 20 to 60 minutes.

  • S6 and S7:

the trains only run here every hour, every 60 minutes.

  • S8 between Pasing and airport:

    every 20 minutes.

  • S8 between Pasing and Germering:

    every 20 to 40 minutes.

  • S8 between Germering and Herrsching:

    every 60 minutes.

  • The

    S20 line

    is completely eliminated.

The S-Bahn advises commuters to find out about the current operating situation online before starting their journey.
