A new model is born that combines green and blue economy: electric boats, which can be driven with or without a license, unlockable via App, the first in Italy.

It is the result of a partnership between two blue economy start-ups: Navia, a shipyard founded in Rome which is designing boats that are increasingly green tech and with integrated solar panels, and E-ssence for the rental via app of boats with only electric motors, with a innovative sharemobility formula on water.

The project will be presented on March 6th at the start up day in Bologna.

This was announced in a press release which notes that "the business around the rental of electric boats is experiencing a boom. In Italy it is worth 60 million euros, and strong growth is expected in 2024" (Source: Mordor Intelligence report).

The global market is expected to grow by 5% between now and 2027, reaching 20 billion, the European market at 6.5 billion in the same period.

"We are two startups that entered the sustainable nautical sector at the same time, presenting distinct but perfectly complementary models", explained Leonardo Caiazza, founder of E-ssence.

With E-ssence, the first completely online electric boat sharing was born in Italy, a model that in Europe only exists in Holland.

You unlock the boat with the App on your mobile phone, navigate with the assistance of a virtual skipper who suggests itineraries, points of interest to visit, then moor it and lock it.

But not before charging it: this is the only obligation for the user before returning to land.

E-ssence offers its customers three boats: in the port of Mirabello in La Spezia, on Lake Garda and on Lake Bracciano, locations confirmed in 2024.
