Agricultural mechanics, animal husbandry, specialized crops such as vineyards, orchards, olive trees, renewable energy, green chemistry, services, multifunctionality of agricultural businesses, hi-tech technologies for the growth of sustainable agriculture.

These are the main sectors protagonists at the 116th edition of Fieragricola, the international exhibition dedicated to the primary sector, inaugurated this morning at Veronafiere, where it will continue until Saturday 3 February.

Impressive numbers for the "queen" event of the entire agricultural sector: 820 companies from Italy and 20 countries, 11 pavilions occupied, international buyers accredited from 28 countries and selected in collaboration with the ICE Agency, over 140 conferences on the calendar to meet the training needs of the sector.

“This is a great review - said the Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, Francesco Lollobrigida -, our ministry tries to put our agriculture, our fishing, our breeding at the center which are quality and respect for the environment .

Farmers are the area's first environmentalists."

“We are the nation - he continued - that asserts itself on the planet because we know how to produce better than others, in terms of history, knowledge, in-depth analysis”.

“We must be able to promote it, because behind our production there are supply chains and there are workers.

There are families and there is a growth in wealth” concluded Minister Lollobrigida.

International buyers accredited from 28 countries and selected in collaboration with the ICE Agency are expected in Verona in the Verona exhibition center, in particular from the areas of Eastern Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Thus Fieragricola embraces all the main primary sectors and projects Verona as the capital of agribusiness for four days, with insights into climate change, one of the great challenges of the sector.

“A sector - explained the president of Veronafiere, Federico Bricolo - which is a backbone of the country.

They did a great job to relaunch this event and I think the results are excellent.

The numbers of this edition say it and the presence of the Minister wanted to underline once again the importance of the trade fair activities that we organize in Verona, in particular in agrifood.

We are the home of farmers!”.

“It is an important role that Veronafiere has played for a long time in the agri-food sector - added Maurizio Danese, CEO of Veronafiere, a sector worth over 600 billion euros and exporting 60 of them, with a weight on GDP equal to 15%”.

Among the events on the inaugural day, the conference "Agriculture in the changing climate: strategies, practices, technologies for mitigation and adaptation", followed by the round table with the presidents of the main agricultural organizations (Agrarian Consortiums of Italy, Confagricoltura , Cia-Italian Farmers, Copagri).

And further focus on innovation and digital with the "Fieragricola Tech", dedicated to digital agriculture, smart irrigation systems, renewable energy, bio solutions tools for soil protection from a regenerative perspective.

Useful solutions to promote the ecological transition and regenerative agriculture with low environmental impact.
