They are an integral part of every police uniform - but what are the stars actually all about?

The police gave answers on Facebook.

Munich – The stars on the shoulders of the Bavarian police officers have different colors.

The Upper Bavaria South police recently explained what these mean on their Facebook account.

Stars in different colors: what do they mean on police uniforms?

Most people will assume that the color of the stars on the shoulders of the Bavarian police uniform has something to do with rank.

And they are spot on.

The Upper Bavaria South Police explain on Facebook that they reflect a total of three qualification levels.

“Each color represents one of three qualification levels,” says the post on Facebook.

Here is a summary of what the star colors stand for:

Star colors on Bavarian police uniforms:

Blue stars: They stand for the second qualification level (QE for short).

Silver stars: They represent the third QE.

Gold stars: They represent the fourth and highest QE.

However, that is not the end of it.

Because the number of stars also has two meanings.

The Upper Bavaria South police wrote on Facebook: “The number of stars represents the official title within the respective QE.

You can also use the stars to guess how long someone has been with the police and what job he or she does.”

Second, third and fourth qualification levels?

These are the tasks

In the article, the police also explain what the tasks are within the respective qualification levels.

The second QE includes the tasks of the police, in “guard and patrol service”.

The officers of the third QE lead service groups at police stations or are part of the criminal investigation department.

The fourth and highest qualification level is still missing: “Officers in the 4th QE manage, for example, police and criminal investigation departments or specialist areas in the respective police headquarters.”

Facebook users react to post – quick-witted response from the police

There is a lot of praise for the police in the comments on Facebook.

“You guys are great.

Always take good care of yourself.

“Thank you for your service to others,” wrote one user, for example.

But the social department of the Upper Bavaria South police also has to listen to at least the attempt at ridicule.

One user wrote: “Isn’t it like BW?

Someone with three stars can read and write and knows someone who can do math?" The police skillfully countered: "We can't speak for the Bundeswehr.

But for us, 3 stars are enough, at least for answering Facebook comments.” That’s why we get five stars.
