A young driver was traveling on the A70 motorway from Schweinfurt towards Bamberg.
Shortly before the rest area, according to News5

his vehicle jerking, and shortly afterwards smoke was coming out of the engine compartment.

The 19-year-old managed to park the vehicle at the rest area and get to safety with his dog.
A few minutes later the van was fully engulfed in flames.

The fire brigades who were alerted quickly got the fire under control, but the van burned down completely.
