Around 2,500 people, including numerous politicians from across the region, took a stand against growing right-wing radicalism on Sunday afternoon.

The entire civil society is now called upon, the speakers emphasized.

Erding - The speakers received a lot of applause for their appeals to protect democracy and the Basic Law and to treat people with a migration background equally.

The initiators of “Colorful instead of Brown” were very satisfied with the process and the response.

The meeting went smoothly.

Organizer Ulla Dieckmann said as she looked into the crowd: “That’s a strong sign.

You are great.” Moderator Georg Bauernfeind quoted the concentration camp survivor Max Mannheimer, who was a frequent guest in Erding.

Everyone is now required to take responsibility.

He sees many younger and older people, mayors and representatives.

“The mix shows: We are more, we stand for diversity and tolerance,” said the 18-year-old student.

Erding's Mayor Max Gotz spoke of a “fantastic picture”.

“We’re all showing our faces today, we’re showing that we stand for values.

We will not allow ourselves to be moved.” History, says Gotz, teaches “that extremism leads to inhumanity.”

The AfD is certainly not an alternative.

On the contrary, she wants to bring disadvantaged people out of the middle of society and destroy the party state.

Gotz said he never dreamed that the term deportation would ever return to common usage.

“We should actually be ashamed of that, but we are opposing it,” said the mayor to applause.

But he also criticized FW Deputy Prime Minister Hubert Aiwanger, who had declared in June 2023 that the people must “take back democracy”.

“Those are exactly the words we don’t need.”

Gotz recalled that migrants lived in 74 accommodations in Erding.

“We don't have to evaluate why these people came to us.

My job is to give them a roof over their heads.” The fact that he is insulted by his fellow citizens “is also hidden right-wing extremism for me.”

Konrad Thees from the Greens stated: “Democracy is in danger.” A right-wing extremist Prime Minister Björn Höcke in Thuringia is a real danger.

They also gathered, Thees continued, “to protect the Basic Law and fight for our democracy.”

Civil society now needs “courage every day and must stand up whenever attempts are made to delegitimize the Basic Law”.

For Thees, it is long overdue for the Federal Ministry of the Interior to now collect the material for a potential ban on the AfD.

One should not wait until Höcke, in political responsibility, is in a position to shred incriminating documents.

Second Mayor and Neighborhood Aid Chairwoman Petra Bauernfeind said, looking out into the crowd: “This is what the firewall looks like.” We must take active action against all efforts to overthrow the system.

Anyone who is dissatisfied can always get involved in one of the democratic parties.

She praised the commitment of the young generation.

Pastor Martin Garmaier also explicitly welcomed Muslims, Jews and people who had turned away from the church.

Jesus Christ always stood on the side of those who needed support.

Referring to Höcke's popularity in Thuringia, Garmaier said: “Hitler was also democratically elected.

But no one will claim that he was a democrat.” The AfD is also embarrassed in Bavaria - when a member of parliament's immunity has to be withdrawn before the first state parliament session because he is being investigated for sedition.

VdK district manager Zeynep Gencer explained that due to her Turkish roots, Turkey is her motherland.

But because her father came to Germany as a guest worker in the 1970s and was involved in the German economic miracle, Germany is her fatherland.

The young soccer referee Benedikt Klingbeil explained that in sport it doesn't matter where you come from or the color of your skin, but rather that everyone follows the rules.

Everyone who votes for the AfD knows who they are voting for.

“But it would be wrong to put all AfD voters in the right-wing corner.
