Sanremo Song Festival host Amadeussaid Tuesday he knew how to drive a tractor having gone to anagrarian studies institute and was thus better qualified towelcome to the stage farmers who have been protesting hardship and EU and national policies by driving their tractors in majorcities including imminently Rome.
"I did the agrarian institute, they told me 'go and dig the fields' and I really did dig in my life, and I also know how to drive a tractor," said the 61-year-old Ravenna born showman.
"The fields are extremely important, there are so many workers,I'm not making a political issue out of it, but it's politicsthat sometimes weds causes.
"There are some people who have huge difficulties and I'm in favor of these people: I repeat I'm not making a political issue out of it and I'm not against anyone".
Rai State broadcaster, which is behind the fest, is reportedly underwhelmed by Amadeus' invitation to the farmers who have been riding their tractors around Italy and other European countries protesting falling product prices, rising fuel costs, and Green-linked policies they say have made and will continue to make their hardship worse.
