The communities of Grasbrunn, Putzbrunn, Hohenbrunn and Neubiberg have founded the “ARGE Wind LKM Südost”.

While the local council in Grasbrunn voted unanimously in favor of the working group, there were numerous dissenting voices in Putzbrunn.

Grasbrunn/Putzbrunn

– The communities of Grasbrunn, Putzbrunn, Hohenbrunn and Neubiberg have founded the “ARGE Wind LKM Südost”.

While the local council in Grasbrunn voted unanimously in favor of the working group, in Putzbrunn there were numerous opposing votes “because of the timing”.

Both local councilors as well as the SPD mayors Klaus Korneder (Grasbrunn) and Edwin Klostermeier (Putzbrunn) were disappointed with the plans of the Regional Planning Association (RPV), which had not declared the proposed wind power areas in the two communities to be priority areas (we reported).

“But that doesn’t disrupt our plans, we want to build our own wind turbine for the citizens and the community,” said Korneder.

Klostermeier sees it similarly, but he would have liked significantly more priority areas: “Because we will need them in the long term.”

Promote expansion intercommunally

Because hardly any community will be able to build wind turbines on its own, there are alliances throughout the entire district.

The communities of Hohenbrunn, Putzbrunn, Grasbrunn and Neubiberg have spoken out in favor of pushing forward the expansion on an inter-communal basis and establishing an ARGE for this purpose.

With the working group, the communities are sending a clear signal to ensure a sustainable, regional energy supply.

Synergies can be exploited through closer cooperation between communities.

Role model in neighboring communities

The model for the new working group is the one founded in 2019 between Egmating, Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn and Oberpframmern with the districts of Ebersberg and Munich.

This led to the approval of three wind turbines in the Höhenkirchner Forest by the Munich district office in October 2023.

“Hohenbrunn is already close to having its own wind turbine, the location is on our southern municipal border.

They want to get the neighboring communities and citizens on board, so we should have a foot in the door,” said Korneder.

Several communities would also have better opportunities together in terms of locations, for example in the Bavarian State Forests.

CSU, FW and FDP want to postpone the application

His counterpart Klostermeier advocated membership just as vehemently, but encountered sharp headwinds from the CSU and the FWG/FDP faction.

“We are not against joining the ARGE, but we think the current time is wrong,” said Eduard Boger (CSU).

Together with Josef Jakob (FWG), he advocated putting the application on hold and first informing the local councils about the possibilities of wind turbines for communities and citizens.

“In January there was a lecture by Hans Zäuner and Werner Stinauer about the first wind turbine in the Ebersberg district, which was put into operation in December 2016.

They talked about the system and how the community and population benefit from citizen-owned wind turbines.

The two should speak to the local council first,” demanded Boger.

However, his motion to postpone was rejected by a vote of 9:10.

Afterwards, Klostermeier and Walter Hois (GPP) argued vehemently for Putzbrunn to join the ARGE.

The local council approved this request with four votes against.
